To my fellow homeschool mom: does any of the following sound familiar to you?
You know that homeschool has some tremendous benefits and feel like it is the best option for your family, but you worry about your ability to make it happen.
You worry that your lack of organization skills will impede your ability to truly make the best of homeschooling your children.
You know that flying by the seat of your pants isn’t going to cut it, but you don’t like the idea of having your entire life scheduled out down to the minute.
You agonize over which homeschool planner to buy, finally invest in one, and then abandon it after a few weeks or months because you realize that you don’t know HOW to plan.
You wonder whether you can do this homeschool thing at all and debate just sending your child to public school even though you really do want to make homeschooling work.
In short- you are stressed out, overwhelmed, and afraid of failing as a homeschool mom.
Trust me, I know how you feel. I felt the same way. When my husband first approached me about homeschooling our oldest son, who was in the first grade at the time, I agreed to do it, but was NOT sure of myself. You see, I was one of those ‘fly by the seat of my pants’ people.
I didn’t have a system. I didn’t plan things out ahead of time. In fact, each day my son would come to me asking what we were doing for the day. Instead of being prepared with an answer, I would either find myself online looking for last-minute ideas or scrambling through a stack of random papers I’d printedout, looking for something he could do. I was pretty much just winging it.
I learned pretty quickly that winging it was not going to work. It stressed me out and it wasn’t fair to my son. I knew that if I was going to homeschool, I needed to get my act together. I needed to have a plan for his schooling and a routine that I could stick to. So I worked one out. It has made all the difference in the world!
Once I had a system in place, things started to run more smoothly. He no longer had to ask me what we were going to do each day because he knew I had it covered. Every day, he knew exactly what he had to get done in order to enjoy his free time. There were no fights about him doing his work – he was happy to do it! As a result, I was less stressed and found myself enjoying the process more. Now, my son is in the ninth grade and we are still homeschooling. I also homeschool my other two kids, who are in the second grade and preschool.
I feel like I found my happy medium when it comes to homeschooling and now I want to help other moms find theirs. I realized that there are a lot of moms out there who are the way that I was – committed to homeschooling their kids, but not quite sure how to work out the logistics of doing it on a daily basis. I believe that those moms could benefit from learning from someone like me, who could relate to the struggle on a personal level and has found a system that has worked for 8 years. This eBook is the result of that desire to help.
Homeschool Planning for the Unorganized Mom: Climbing Out of the Overwhelm is an eBook written for moms who need help developing a homeschool system that actually works for them. The goal is to walk you through the same process I used when I was figuring out what I wanted our homeschool to be and how I could make that happen.
Over the course of seven chapters, you will get really clear on:
~Why homeschooling is the best decision for your family
~Your family’s homeschool mission statement
~Your child’s learning style
~The homeschool method that seems like the best fit for your family
~ How to develop a homeschool curriculum that will be enjoyable for you and your kids
~How to budget for your homeschool needs and not go overboard buying things you don’t need
~How to set viable homeschool and personal goals
~How to set a homeschool schedule that takes everything your family has to achieve into account
~How to plan a yearly, monthly, weekly, and/or daily schedule for your family
~How to get your home organized for homeschool
~How to keep things running smoothly
~Knowing when you need to switch things up
~How to adjust to homeschooling multiple kids
~How to avoid homeschool burnout
~How to keep your sanity!
~How to juggle being mom and teacher
Throughout the book, you will find action steps that you can take to actually implement what you are learning. After all, reading the book won’t help you at all unless you actually get to work trying out my suggestions. I have also put together a package of printables that I really think will help you on your journey to becoming an organized homeschooler.
The printables package includes a variety of printables that will help you:
~Budget for the homeschool year
~Develop your family’s homeschool mission statement
~Create a list of curriculum materials you want to purchase
~Keep an inventory of the curricula you own
~Plan unit studies
~Create a reading list
~Brainstorm extracurricular activities
~Create daily, weekly, and monthly homeschool plans
~Plan meals for your family
~ Create a self-care plan
The goal of this eBook is to help you to reduce or completely eliminate your sense of overwhelm about homeschooling. When you have a viable system in place, everyone benefits! You go into each day feeling confident and stress-free because you already have a plan for what is going to happen. By creating a curriculum centered on your child’s learning style and interests, you increase the chances that they will actually love learning, which makes it even easier for you since you won’t have to try to convince them to do things. In short, homeschool will become a source of happiness and fulfillment rather than a source of stress, doubt, and tears.

As a mom who has considered homeschooling, or one who has recently chosen to homeschool, or for one who is trying to put together the pieces, this planner is invaluable. There is so much great advice and tips on how and where to start, coupled with a lot of encouragement! I am really glad I got this ebook… both because it encouraged me that I can do it and because it gave many resources to help me succeed. ~ Meeghan @ Sight and Sound Reading
I just read through the entire ebook and I am so excited! First of all, I was very encouraged; I was encouraged to know that I am not the only one with the same snuggles and encouraged that Monique shared great advice on how to overcome them.
Her ebook is very organized and the topics are relevant to every single homeschooling mom, no matter where they live. I appreciate how real she is and how she offers essential tips for the “super organized” and the “super relaxed” moms.
I really enjoyed Monique’s ebook and I highly recommend it for all moms, to the new ones to homeschooling and to those who have been homeschooling for years. I think that what is unique about her ebook is how she approaches us from a very down-to-earth and realistic way. I feel like I am a better mom than I made myself out to be because of all the effort I put in to make our homeschool the best ever.
~Tanya from The Natural Homeschool
Who should buy this eBook?
I wrote this book with unorganized moms in mind. It doesn’t matter if you are a homeschool newbie who is trying to learn the ropes or if you have a few (stressful) years under your belt. If you feel like you do not have a system that works, this book was written for you.
Who should not buy this eBook?
If you already have a system in place that works beautifully, this isn’t for you. It may, however, be for a friend you know who fits the bill of the unorganized homeschool mom. I’d love it if you could share it with her.
What makes you qualified to write this book?
I’ve been there. I’m not someone who was naturally organized. I struggled with it just the same as a lot of people. Then I buckled down and figured out what worked. It has worked for me for 8 years and I am happy to share my knowledge with my fellow homeschoolers.
I’ve bought homeschool planners before. What makes this one different?
This eBook is not a planner. It’s a walk-through of what you need to do to create a viable homeschool system for your family. I do, however, include a planner in my digital printables package that you might find useful. Once you have read the eBook and implemented the action steps, you should be fully prepared to utilize the homeschool planner in a way that is effective and efficient.
What should my homeschool routine be?
The beauty of this is that there is no single homeschool routine that works for everyone. Every family is unique and has different needs, so it only follows that what works for one family may not work for everyone else. This eBook will help you to figure out what works for YOUR family.
Will this book get my kids to love learning?
Of course I can’t guarantee that your children will love to learn. However, if you take the time to figure out their learning style, what their interests are, and use that information to develop your homeschool curriculum and routine, the chances are better that homeschool will be something that they enjoy.
